Booking a holiday can often be stressful; especially when you are trying to do it all yourself. However it really does not have to be that bad and there is a way in which you can save a lot of time and potentially a lot of money too. That way is by making a vacation reservation online.

By booking flights, restaurants and even accommodation online it makes things a whole lot simpler and you can do it all from the comfort of your own home. So the next time that you want to book a vacation, why make it more stressful than it has to be?

Tips for Booking Your Vacation Online

Whilst booking online is certainly a lot easier, there are some things which you still need to keep in mind. For example, you will need to do a lot of research beforehand in order to ensure that you are booking the right things for you and your family. Also by doing the right amount of research you can also save a lot of money, so what exactly should you be looking into?

When researching various holidays, you need to keep in mind a number of things. These include:

•	The price
•	The location
•	The activities there
•	Who is going with you

It is a good idea to think about these things before you book anything. If you are traveling with the family for example, you will want to find family inspired deals. There are plenty of them about; you just have to know what you are looking for. Once you have considered everything that there is to consider, it is only then that you should really look for the right company to suit you.

Another point to remember is that when you book anything online, you have to be certain that you know what you are booking. This means before you accept anything you have to read through the terms and conditions. Some people find that what they thought they had booked actually missed out a lot of things and when they got there it was not what they were expecting. So to avoid disappointment it is advisable to read everything thoroughly before clicking the accept button.

Overall booking online can save you time and money. Often travel websites offer various deals for booking online which means that you can often get bargain travel offers and it is easy to find everything that you need too. Just be sure to read through any terms and conditions so that you know what you are letting yourself in for and remember to compare a few different companies before you choose one to get the best cheap holiday deals for you.

Booking your first skiing holiday can be an intimidating process for most people. First you may be asking yourself, how do I know what resort is right for me and how do I know what type of activities a particular resort will offer? The best way to find all of this information is on the internet. Each ski resort usually has a site that outlines all the resort has to offer. However, it is always good to go in with an idea of what to look for. Here are some tips to what to look for when booking your first skiing holiday:

1. Base your choice on your ski ability

Since this is your first ski holiday, chances are you are not an expert skier. Since this is the case, it is important to keep in mind your skiing ability when choosing a ski resort. Resorts rank their slopes by their difficulty, from easiest to expert. The easier the slopes, the more fun you will have as a beginner.

2. Activities for the kids

If you have children, you know how important it is to keep them entertained. Many resorts will offer activities for children so that their parents can enjoy their own part of the vacation on the slopes. Your kids will have a lot more fun if they have activities aimed at entertaining them and you will have a more relaxed time as well.

4. Look for ski lessons

Because this is probably your first skiing holiday, it might be a wise idea to take a few ski lessons. Most resorts offer lessons to their skiers from experts. You’ll enjoy your time more if you know what you’re doing and are skiing more than falling. Check out the resort to see if they have group lessons or if you can get personalized lessons as well. If you’re looking for personal lessons and a resort only offers group ones, this might be a deal breaker

3. Check out their packages

Most resorts offer different packages to suit what type of skiing vacation you would like to experience. Resort packages range from family vacation packages to romantic get-a-ways for couples. Some resorts might offer specials along with their packages. Specials can include free skiing for children under a certain age or certain incentives and perks for booking early.

Just remember, when searching for a resort, it is important to keep fun in mind.

Some years ago, parking a car on the airport was not viewed as a problem as such. But now it is; thanks to a tremendous surge in business traveling. There are many other factors that also turned airport parking into a hazardous and expensive experience. Let’s come the summer months and there is an extra ordinary rush for getting out of the country. And the consequence is that: you get no place in the parking area to keep your poor car safely for a few days.

Just place yourself in this situation: you have driven up too airport all the way with the hope of parking your car in the safe place before departing for your exotic holiday destination, but in your dismay found out that all car parks have been booked out well in advance! Do you have any idea what should be your next step of action? If it is holiday season, the space crunch is even more acute and during this time you have to pre book parking at least seven days before the journey.

So you can see the trend and unfortunately the trend is now typical of all the important and busy airports across the globe, especially in the USA and in the European countries. If you do not want to be fooled by this crazy craving for parking places in the onset of your journey, take good care of pre booking your parking place in the airport well in advance.

But everything in this world has two sides-a positive side and a negative side. The airport parking also has its share of positive and negative effects. On the one hand, this maddening rush for airport parking place adds to your holiday booking list another item apart from hotel and flights. On the other hand, the airport parking fees tend to come down dramatically in the recent times. There is a reason for it. Few years ago, the practice of airport parking was not so popular. But today it has become so hugely poplar, that the authorities had to work out some solutions and the result is the concept of a number of off airport car parking. Thus in place of a handful expensive car parks in the airports today you can find a number of well served car parks near all major airports in the world.

In a nutshell, the surge in the number of off and on airport car parking and the facility of pre booking not only added to the availability of parking places, it also helped to pull down the expenses of car parking. Thus it is now possible for more and more number of passengers to take the advantage of airport parking at a lower price.

The newfound strength of the Euro, a hot British summer prediction, and (of course) the recession. These are just some of the reasons we expected to see holidays abroad on the decline this year. Who can justify their usual two-week break in Spain, when it is no longer “cheap” to drink and eat on the back of the powerful pound? What makes it even more unjustifiable is the hot summer Britain has been promised this year. It would make perfect sense to skip the flight altogether and book a local holiday in Britain.

Seemingly, there are many advantages to “staying-in” this summer. One can cut out the cost of flights, and make things simple this year by staying within the confines of the UK. It is also somewhat easier to leave your holiday booking to the last minute if you aren’t going abroad. This means you can wait for a weekend when you have enough cash to take it easy, and ensure you will still have a job after the summer. No commitment required- a very attractive aspect with a recession threatening to cut your salary at the drop of a hat.

However, there is also something quite revitalizing about going abroad for a summer holiday that just can’t be replaced by a local break. Let’s face it, no matter how promising the weather predications, the past few weeks have been somewhat grey, and there really is no guarantee of sunshine in England.

Another factor to consider is the effect that summer holidays have on your health. Getting out and about in some real sunshine can do wonders for your well-being. Simply being out of your usual surroundings for a while can boost your mood and reduce stress considerably.

The good news is that you can probably still afford to go abroad this year, and it is definitely an option worth considering when you only get one chance at a real summer holiday.

Something to think about is cutting down on your holiday time. A shorter one-week break abroad may be more beneficial than the two-weeks at home, which can leave you feeling like you never really got away at all. You can still get your annual dose of wine and sunshine and save on costs.

You can find some real holiday bargains this year as well. The recession and accompanying consumer attitude mean that hotels and flights are cheaper than ever. Use the internet to explore some summer holiday options and to book some great hotel deals online.

There are many pro’s and con’s when it comes to booking last minute deals. The thought of them sound fantastic, but realistically they are not for everyone, especially not the faint hearted. If you’re like me then forget it, book well in advance! I like to know when I’m going, where I’m going and for how long. I like to be prepared well in advance and hate dashing around last minute trying to sort everything out. For instance;

Car Parking – I book my car parking well in advance to ensure I get the best possible price, availability can go quickly and I’d hate to think I was turning up at the airport without having pre booked it and having to pay those dreadful gate prices!

Travel Insurance – I always book my travel insurance the minute I’ve booked my holiday, I keep my insurance policy documents together with my holiday booking details, my passports, my car parking voucher etc. Booking it last minute may not leave me enough time to receive the appropriate documents I’ll need and then what will I do if anything happens and I don’t have my paperwork?!

Holiday shopping – I don’t know about you, but I think the prices of sun cream are extortionate, I mean, it’s something we all need so how they get away with pricing it so high is beyond me. Anyway, I always compare prices of a few brands and check which shops have the best offers on and buy it well in advance. There’s nothing worse than having to buy it when abroad, you’ll come away feeling well and truly ripped off!

Currency – Comparing currency rates can save you a few pounds, however, there is not a lot you can do about the rate of currency exchange. It is what it is and is usually best to exchange before you travel, the airports always give a lower rate as do most holiday resorts.

Packing your suitcase – Packing your case can be a fairly traumatic experience. Will it be too heavy? Have I packed everything I need? Should I really take that? Do I roll or do I fold? It’s an absolute nightmare! So packing early like I do is a necessity. Not only will it leave you feeling satisfied that you’ve packed everything you need, but you can relax before you travel instead of running around last minute shoving stuff in where you can.

My views, although slightly erratic, do work for me. However, I may actually end up paying more. But if you hold out and bide your time, there’s plenty of late deals to be had. But take my advice and prepare whatever you can before hand. If you see sun cream on offer but haven’t booked your holiday yet, buy it anyway, you’re getting a great deal. Last minute packing can be made easier with a holiday drawer, have everything ready in one place to plonk straight in the case. As long as you book your holiday a day or two before you travel, nip down to the post office to change your currency, they usually have great rates. You can actually book travel insurance the day before you travel, just ensure you have your policy number and an emergency contact number in case you need to use it. There are loads of last minute deals out there just waiting to be found, all it takes is some hard work and patience and you could end up saving a fortune!

We all know that many of the best deals are now to be found via the Internet. This applies to many purchases that we may be interested in making, from the latest chart CD to an expensive holiday. But it’s not always obvious how we can make savings.

You may even have noticed this yourself. It’s certainly something that many people complain about when they come to make a holiday booking online. They do so in the expectation of saving money and yet find that it’s often difficult to do so. This can frequently be frustrating, particularly when you hear others boasting about the great deals that they found online.

So are their cheap holidays to be found? There clearly are but it seems that many of us simply aren’t looking in the right place. The reality is that finding a good quality, cheap deal is not as easy as it first seems. It takes some work, some planning and some time.

The important thing to remember is that this will be time well spent. It certainly is possible to make significant savings. It’s just a matter of knowing how.

So where should you begin? It’s always good to have a clear idea of the holiday that you require. Once you have an idea in mind, you can quickly carry out price comparisons online. These will help you to identify travel operators who consistently offer low-cost deals. But you may wonder whether such operators are actually reputable. This is a common concern.

Fortunately, there is plenty of information available via the Internet that can guide your decision-making process. Many people like to use independent consumer reviews. These can tell you all about the hotels, resorts and travel companies who are best avoided. They can also point you in the direction of some brilliant deals.

Once you’ve spotted these cheap travel operators, you are well on your way to finding those cheap holidays. You may previously have thought that they were impossible to find, but you’ll now see that you do have the option to find the great bargains that you’ve heard others talking about.

You will realise that those discount holidays aren’t as well hidden as they previously appeared to be. There’s one final tip that will also help you to get an even better deal.

Before making your holiday payment, check to see if there is a valid discount code for that particular travel company. If there is, you could save even more.

Many people believe that the best discount holidays are to be found by shopping online. There’s certainly some truth in this belief, although it’s not always obvious how such savings can be made. Plenty of people struggle to find the very best discount deals.

Maybe you’re concerned that you’re paying over the odds when making your travel arrangements. If so, you may need to take the advice of many travel analysts. They often suggest that you should plan your holiday booking in a structured manner. Treat it as you would treat a project at work. Planning can certainly make all the difference.

If you’re thinking about booking online then you’ve already made a great start. You’ve clearly realised that traditional travel agents simply can’t compete with online competitors when it comes to price. Your next step will be to find a holiday that’s right for you.

You may already have a destination in mind. If not, it would certainly be recommended that your first step should be to do some investigating online. Luckily, you can use the Internet to gain access to an absolute mountain of information. Use it wisely and you can find out about the positives and negatives associated with particular destinations.

Even if you already know which country or region you would like to visit, there is value to be found in using online reviews to identify the best accommodation options. Once you’ve narrowed down your choices, your next step should be to try and find the best deals.

You might begin by using a travel price comparison site. These can be useful, helping you to find some low prices online. At the very least, they will enable you to find some travel operators who consistently offer cheap deals. Not heard of a particular operator? Don’t worry – you can look up reviews online to make sure that they are reputable.

Once you’ve tracked down a deal that is rightly you, with a travel company that you’re happy to trust, now is the time to make your booking online. Before you do so, don’t forget that you can use travel discount codes to help you make the biggest savings.

In summary, you should be looking to make your booking online. You can use the Internet to do your research and then make use of price comparison websites to track down the best deals. Before finalising your booking, ensure that you’re dealing with a reputable company. Finally, use discount codes to save even more.

Many people take out annual travel insurance either individually or for a couple or family. The great thing about this is that you have peace of mind and if you are taking holidays throughout the year you don’t have to keep on buying new insurance. This is rather like when you take out an annual car hire excess insurance policy. The insurance provider would normally notify the policyholder that the policy is about to expire and if it is not renewed then cover will stop immediately. These reminders would either be by post or by email. People often leave it till the last minute or till after they have just booked a break for a few days away several weeks in advance. In the intervening period they would remember to renew the policy. What happens if you foreget, you have made a flight / ferry booking and have an accident before you travel? You are going to have a bit a problem. This occurred recently with someone I know where the flight was booked, it was not going to be till a month later, but the traveller forgot to renew or take out the family travel insurance. A week or so after the booking was made one of the family had an injury whilst playing cricket on a Saturday afternoon. Two days earlier the Travel insurance had expired and it looks like this person won’t be able to fly in three weeks time because of the injury. This means that they will not be able to claim this time. Always renew your Travel Insurance when you get the reminder. It should then be effective from the date of renewal and if you make a holiday booking you should be covered. If you are making a holiday booking and you don’t have an annual policy, make sure you immediately take out Travel Insurance cover. You never know what is around the corner and you could easily trip over your favourite garden gnome ten minutes after booking, injure your leg and not be able to get on the plane the following week.

Villa holidays offer much more than just an apartment to relax in and specialist firms are available to tailor accommodation to the needs of their clients. Some overseas travellers are happy enough to book their own home from home to unwind in for their holidays. These kinds of apartments have numerous amenities, meaning those who are keen on staying within them, rather than exploring, are able to do so in comfort. Holidaymakers are able to book those that boast private Jacuzzis, barbecues, satellite televisions and internet access.

As well as enjoying all these amenities, visitors may like to indulge in some of their favourite hobbies while abroad, such as golf, which is available at a number of locations including villas in Spain. Expert firms can help fans of the sport book accommodation near to some of the world’s most popular courses. In addition to being ideally located to indulge their new hobby, visitors booking villa holidays via these companies are also able to have games arranged at their convenience.

Golf enthusiasts keen on visiting a selection of courses, may like to get in touch with specialist businesses that arrange visits to several different areas where they are free to play on the greens. Families booking breaks may require different facilities to those travelling as a part of a younger or older couple. In the latter group, making sure young ones are entertained and catered to is paramount.

Thankfully, holiday booking experts are aware of the needs of families and are available to give tips and advice on the best locations for them. These firms can point groups to family-friendly sites that boast a great number of activities that will appeal to youngsters. In addition, they can ensure that sites contain all the facilities those travelling with little ones require, such as cots, high chairs and child care options.

Once a domain for the super rich only, now getting up close to Africa’s most famous and photogenic hunters can be enjoyed by anyone with a taste for adventure.

A little bit of research will bring up hundreds if not thousands of tour guides and safari resources, so save a little time by having a few specifics in mind before you search for that perfect safari. First of all, consider who is going to go on it; if it’s a family holiday add this to your search, as many safaris are tough going and tend to allow adults only. To make your search easier and to ensure the best holiday for your money, here are some simple tips to follow.

It’s important to remember that you are about to book the holiday of a lifetime, not a week all-inclusive in a resort, so don’t expect the process to necessarily be as straightforward as a standard holiday booking, as several factors may have to be considered. Every bit of research you put into finding the best operator and guide will be worth it though, as it will translate into a better experience once you arrive.

A specialist holiday like this deserves a specialist travel operator, so avoid the usual High Street names and seek out the guys in the know. Similarly, who better to ask than people that have been there before? Get on to online travel review sites for the best word of mouth advice, as it is always the most accurate.

Tourism, in particularly safari, is a lifeblood in Kenya, so don’t show up at Kenya International Airport and expect to be able to book the safari of your dreams on a budget, as the whole process will be rushed, confusing and ultimately more costly than researching and booking through a respected operator. Of course a country as vast as Kenya deserves a lengthy stay to be appreciated fully, so try to aim for a minimum of at least 10 days.

Once your there, your hard work will hopefully have paid off as a guide comes to pick you up directly from the airport and discusses your trip itinerary with you, drives you to your luxury accommodation and probably brings you dinner too – avoiding a lot of potential hassle after a long trip and no doubt jetlag.

Needless to say, on a safari trip comprehensive insurance is a must. As well as the obvious danger involved in getting up close to wild animals, good medical cover is a requirement when visiting many African countries, and make sure that it includes all activities you may be partaking in.

Finally don’t forget extra camera film, or memory cards, as Kenya safaris always require a lot of photographs!

In today’s stressful times, people are compelled to work for longer hours in their jobs. No wonder, it becomes all the more necessary to go on holidays to relax, recharge our brain cells, and enjoy those precious moments away from our desks and work stations. This becomes all the more important for single people who are living alone, without any companion.

Well, there are plenty of options if you are thinking of singles adventure holidays; therefore, the single traveller should try to plan his trip carefully in order to enjoy his holiday to the hilt.

If you are rushing through a last minute booking, you would not be clearly considering your criteria for the perfect singles adventure holiday. Booking, be it online or through the travel agent invariably takes longer time than you think; therefore, give yourself plenty of time and just do not be too hasty in picking the first singles adventure holiday that comes on your way.

Also, single travellers need to be clear about the kind of holiday they want. This is because the more clear and specific you are about your requirements, the more likely you would get what you want. For instance, to have a great time on your UK solo holidays, do you want a quiet location, a resort amidst spectacular landscapes, somewhere buzzing with nightlife, or something else? If you are clear about what you are looking for in your singles adventure holidays, things would fall into place smoothly.

When it comes to selecting a travel company for booking your adventure single travel holidays, word of mouth is always the best recommendation you should bank upon. Listen to your friends’ and colleagues’ experiences, particularly those with similar needs and requirements as that of your own. This way you would be able to go for the best singles adventure trip ever!

Also, try to check out a travel book or two before you leave home to enjoy the cruise for single people. This would allow you to have an idea of alternate activities and places of interest. This is because weather is something you can not have control on. Therefore, let’s say, if it is not a great sun-bathing day, the UK single travellers could always rent a car and do some sight seeing at the places you have always thought of visiting. It is advisable to research about such places and mark them out on a map.

One of the well-known online travel companies that offer a wide range of solo holidays to some of the most spectacular places across the globe is singlesholidays Visit the website for more details.

The travel industry has been one of the many sectors to feel the impact of the global economic downturn full force, with many airlines facing severe hardship and jobs being lost. However, there are many indicators that people are not choosing to cancel their holidays.

Towards the end of last year, major travel operators Thomson and First Choice published the results of an online poll, which they said suggested that an “overwhelming 80 per cent of respondents” fully expected to enjoy their holidays during 2010. A similar number of people had insisted that they would not let a recession alter their planned holidays.

Other poll results featured in the 2009 Thomson and First Choice annual trends report showed that almost half of respondents were intending to spend the same amount on their 2010 holidays as the previous year – while 24 per cent even said that they intended to spend even more. However, it also showed that holiday plans are changing due to a lack of money.

Of the respondents that admitted to changing their holiday plans due to reduced finances, some 6 per cent said that they had considered booking package holidays to ensure that they were covered by ATOL provisions to get them home if their airline collapsed. For 2010 holidays, 13 per cent said that they were taking this precaution.

This is one side of the change in holiday booking habits but, conversely, another change has been in the way in which most people book their holidays. Although there may be less security when it comes to collapsed airlines, there has been a significant leap in the amount of holidays booked via small, independent operators via the Internet. Thanks to price comparison travel websites and the success story of low-cost airlines such as easyJet and Ryanair, ordinary people feel a lot more comfortable arranging the details of their holidays themselves and creating a tailor-made experience online.

People have also become far shrewder when it comes to bargain-hunting. In the 2009 Thomson and First Choice annual trends report, some 46 per cent of respondents admitted that they would be taking advantage of hotels’ worries about the economy to obtain five-star rooms at three or four-star prices. Others have sought out the most favourable exchange rates, forsaking the Eurozone for countries such as Turkey, which is fast becoming the medium-haul destination of choice thanks to the strong position of sterling compared to the Turkish lira.

September 2009

With the ski holiday booking season in full swing, it is clear that a number of people are looking for ways to save money in 2009/2010. One of the best ways to do this is to consider booking a self catered rather than a catered ski holiday.

The initial advantages of booking a self catered ski chalet are obvious – a self catered chalet costs less to book than a catered chalet. However, many people are put off self catered ski holidays because of the perceived “hassle factor”. They picture queues outside French estate agencies to pick up keys, and trying to hire linen and towels in resort.

Although these scenarios do still exist, with a bit of research it is easy to book hassle free and reasonably priced self catered chalets.

There are a number of holiday companies which rent self catered ski properties, but offer a number of services which make things go a lot smoother on holiday. Some of the main services which you need to keep an eye out for:

1) Someone to meet you in resort to give out keys.

This may sound obvious, but after a long drive down France, or a flight with the kids, it is great to be able to call someone on arrival in resort who can meet you and show you into your ski chalet. This means you don’t have any problems finding the property, and when you get there you have someone who can show you around and show you how everything works. If it is your first time in a particular resort you can also use this opportunity to pick their brains about the skiing, and where to find things such as supermarkets.

2) The facility to pre-book linen and towels.

With airline baggage allowance constantly being cut, and with space at a premium when packing up a car, it is great to arrive at a property and have towels and bedding supplied. It is even better if your beds are made up for your arrival so be sure to check that this is an option when booking your holiday.

3) Welcome basket on arrival.

A lot of self catered holiday companies arrange for a small welcome pack to great you. This is usual a token selection of cleaning essentials, a bottle of wine and perhaps a little bit of snack food like croissants. However, don’t underestimate how tired and thirsty you can be after a long journey and having a few things to eat drink on arrival can really make the world of difference.

4) Pre arrival supermarket shop.

Some companies will go shopping on your behalf – you email them a list and they arrange it for you. If your holiday company won’t do this, check with the local supermarket. Some (like Sherpa) will offer free delivery on food shops over a certain value.

5) Ad hoc catering arrangements.

Many ski resorts now have companies who offer an ad hoc external catering service – from take away curries or pizzas to four course dinners prepared in your chalet, served and then tidied away. This means that self catered holidays can also benefit from a touch of catered luxury. Having the flexibility to mix self cooked meals with eating out, and in house catering is a great way of sampling the local produce and cuisine.

Nowadays, self catered chalets can match (if not exceed) the quality and luxury of catered chalet properties. By checking the level of service you get with your booking, a self catered ski holiday can be easy on the pocket while being as effortless as a catered chalet ski holiday.
