We continue seeing a big number of people, couples and families wanting to take the ever preferred summer holiday. We also see the same trends, from some individuals wishing to come back to their favourite resort to travelers who want to try something exciting and new ( to them ). Another maybe plain trend is the rise in accessing the Net. Again, this varies from looking for more info on a summer holiday spot to using online travel and Vacations services to make precise holiday bookings. Definitely , for some kinds of summer holiday this may be advantageous because of the online kickbacks that may be available. Hence when talking about booking a summer holiday, what are the booking options to consider? I know this is going to sound ‘stupid’ but before making summer holiday reservations, you will need to choose the tangible summer vacation spot. Without a destination under consideration, it is not possible to make any bookings. When choosing a summer vacation what are the crucial factors we want to keep in mind? Whenever it’s possible, I really like to encourage folk to think about their summer holiday as starting from the minute they leave their home to the minute they return and, in doing hence consider… * traveling with youngsters * the age of the youngsters * traveling with old age pensioners * traveling with disabled family members * likes and dislikes * comprehensive desires and ‘nice to haves’ * total price of travel * the seven out of ten principle The 7 out of ten principle basically means that if we will not match 100 pc of our wants to a summer holiday choice, the more ‘boxes’ we tick, the bigger the likelihood that we are able to decide on the summer holiday destination that will most closely fit your wishes, so making sure we will have the best summer holiday achievable. Now, we are able to think about tangible bookings and reservations. I suspect the one possibility is to not to order anything in any way. Exciting and fun – perhaps. Yes, there are parks, motels, hostels, camping sites where it’s not always critical to book ahead. In spite of the indisputable fact that reservations would possibly not be needed, I’d always inspire travelers to make their reservations. Highly popular summer holiday destinations fill up fast. Aside from that, while it could be fun handling the doubt when we’re on our own or a pair, imagine taking care of 3 babies or old family members and not finding a place to stay. At the other end of the booking option decisions, some folks prefer to use pro services like travel agents particularly if they’re known to cater for certain summer holiday destinations or focus on catering for certain groups. Others will use them solely from the perspective of convenience – decide, book the holiday, now let’s get back to work! The drawback of this option is that these services can come at a cost. Hence for the budget conscious or for those attempting to find that something slightly different, this won’t be the most suitable choice to take. If you have some time, read some of the other ‘summer holiday’ articles that might help in deciding the best choice for you. With the provision of info online and the summer vacation booking facilities also available for anything from car hire and flights to bed-and-breakfast and 5 star hostels, more folk are making their own reservations. For many it’s a ton of fun doing the study, finding the neatest deals and developing their own unique summer holiday. As discussed earlier, so long as the majority of the boxes are ticked, it can then take only 1 or 2 minutes to have the entire holiday from flights to accommodation scheduled inside a few mins. Let’s have a recap… With overnite stays, most families may like the convenience and services offered by hostels and motels. Others like the outside staying in parks, camping sites. Though reservations might not be needed, booking your preferred accommodation ahead, makes sure that you’re assured a place to rest your folks or set up your tent. Researching online provides the chance to either make your own unique summer holiday or to order a well-liked vacation location at a reduced price. ( you might need to weigh up this option against package deals where ‘extras’ might be included as a part of the deal. These ‘extras’ may only be open to you at a price if coordinating the holiday yourself ). It is usually worth checking these things first before arranging a reservation commitment.

The travel planet may be going through a downward spiral, excluding European skiing in Austria. It embraces its own in the global market. The skiing crowd has evidently increased in Austria. Austria comes just subsequent to France in amass of fashionable European ski objectives. Austria is the number one target for pop idols and crowned heads, with its well-appointed choices and chocolate box scenery.

Austria is not just menacing, it is quite a spacious and wonderland you can be in for Skiing in this year 2008 and coming 2009. Just in the near past, it was alarmed about that the whole holiday industry was disaster-prone. Reports of global warming, together with poorly timed weather greater than one or two ski periods, intimidated to cut down the banging commerce of Austrian ski resorts. After a fade away, Austria reincarnated in the 2007 and 2008. The Ski seasons were superb and replenishing. The country was piled with snow and the tourists began to rush into the resorts. The records and surveys proved that Austrian resort and holiday bookings tremendously amplified. The temperatures turned out to be moderate again for the best seasons, and they never tend to be too hot. Austria grew to be the tourist spot for the Royal Family, Prince Charles and his sons.

Years back, a voyage made by Lady Diana Spencer through Klosters paved way for the fame and splendor of Austria. On top to the British royal family, Austria’s ski resorts swarmed the sovereign of Sweden in the middle of numerous other celebrated countenances. Austria was outstanding in all means and swiftly won the heart of many. Yes, the region and the countryside are tremendously awe-inspiring. Skiing was introduced at a school initially and later it developed. It was Hannes Scheider who generated this up-to-date method. Skiing was never limited to any age groups and Austria became the floor for teaching Skiing.

Austria’s attractiveness as a ski objective has extra to do with the globally identified Austrian compassion. People appointed in the resorts know the tricks and ways to capture the heart of the guests. You will find the home like feeling here. The folks are ready to accompany the guests and endow any new or old information about the localities and skiing. They know better about the slopes and restaurants. Once you are in this land of ice beauty, you will get pleasure from skiing as well as the freshness and purity bequeathed here. Austrian ski resorts possibly will not split the similar widespread fame of some French resorts. However, benefactors would not have it in the least other way. In Austria, you will never experience a scuttle or pull to ski. By most of the resorts, the gradients are hushed and tranquil, by means of immediate quantity of natural snow.

Austria sings their own praises of beyond explainable natural gorgeousness and a caller catalog counting monarchs and screen idols. The Ski business is going to be far reaching ahead of all expectations in the 2008-2009 holiday periods.

Staff at a Hastings-based holiday park group are celebrating their success in being short-listed for the UK travel industry’s most prestigious accolade.

Park Holidays UK has beaten hundreds of other operators to win through to the finals of the prestigious British Travel Awards, sponsored by Lloyds TSB.

Now they must wait until November this year to see if they have taken the overall prize when the results are announced at a glittering awards ceremony at London’s Battersea Evolution centre.

Park Holidays UK was voted into the finals by both consumers and travel industry professionals, over 90,000 of whom made nominations in last year’s awards.

Voting will now continue until September 30, and the company is hoping that it will secure enough support to take one of the top three places in the contest.

But according to company director Tony Clish, getting even this far has demonstrated a huge vote of confidence in the company and its team:

“The BTA Awards are regarded as the Oscars of the tourism industry, and are recognised as the UK’s largest measure of public opinion on travel operators,” said Tony.

“Securing our place in the finals is especially gratifying because people are voting not just on the standard of the facilities which our parks offer – but also on how well they feel they are looked after.

“We have always taken a special pride in providing a highly personal service to customers, and our staff will always go the extra mile to ensure guests enjoy a great time with us.

“That’s why it’s fantastic to see their efforts acknowledged through this nomination,” he added.

Park Holidays UK, which owns 25 top-rated seaside holiday parks in southern England (see www.ParkHolidaysUK.com), has its headquarters in Hastings and employs around 1100 people.

This summer, says Tony, the company is enjoying its busiest on record with holiday bookings up by over 20 percent on most parks, and holiday home sales to new customers up by over 30 percent.

ends

Cheap Beach Holidays in Bulgaria

Even before the current economic slump, Bulgaria had made a name for itself as a top choice for cheap beach holidays. In fact, you can holiday here for less than almost every other European beach destination. As well as offering great value, Bulgaria tempts holidaymakers with its sandy Blue Flag beaches, fun holiday atmosphere and modern resorts like Sunny Beach and Golden Sands. When it comes to things to do, think water sports, day trips to Istanbul, folklore shows and big nights out. And swimming in the Black Sea makes a change from the Med.

Cheap Beach Holidays in Turkey

You can still afford to travel mid-haul with a trip to Turkey. This mesmerising country is even more popular this summer thanks to its status outside the Euro zone, meaning you can get more bang for your buck. Cheap beach holidays in Turkey are packed with ancient history, rich culture, lively nightlife and the bluest sea you’ll ever set eyes on. Surrounded by the Mediterranean, Aegean and Black Seas, the Turkish coastline will take your breath away, and so will the prices!

Cheap Beach Holidays in Spain

Spain might have seen a reduction in holiday bookings so far this year, but that just means you can take advantage of the slashed prices! The classic summer holiday destination, you’ll always find great deals on cheap beach holidays in Spain. It’s worth remembering that you can still eat out cheaper here than in the UK, with the added bonus of guaranteed sunshine and beachfront restaurants. Whether you fancy the Balearic Islands, the Canaries or mainland Spain, you can still find some real holiday bargains.

Cheap Beach Holidays in Tunisia

If you’re hankering after something a little more exotic, but no less purse-friendly, Tunisia could be the destination for you. A sultry blend of North Africa and the Mediterranean, Tunisia is a modern favourite thanks to its excellent value for money. Cheap beach holidays in Tunisia offer lazy days on white sandy beaches, cultural tours of Berber villages, snorkelling and scuba diving in warm waters, excellent golf courses, colourful souks, winding medinas and desert safaris.

I remember how I used book holidays before I had access to the Internet. In many senses, things seemed so much more simple back then. Most of us would make our way down to a local travel agent. This is where we’d be looking to make our holiday bookings.

We’d be presented with an assortment of holiday brochures. Looking back, it’s amazing to see just how little information was really contained in such brochures. We might expect to find only a small paragraph describing a particular resort.

There might be even less information about individual hotels. As a result, we might largely be basing our holiday decisions on a relatively small amount of knowledge. There was, of course, the opportunity to ask the staff in the store for assistance.

But these staff could not be expected to know an enormous amount of information about each of the thousands of holidays that they were tasked with selling. In essence, this whole approach to holiday bookings was something of a lucky dip.

The Internet has transformed the way in which we now make such bookings. It gives us the opportunity to carry out an enormous amount of research before we come to make a booking. That means that we can find out a lot about particular resource or hotels.

But this is by no means the only advantage. We can now easily compare prices to. This gives us a much better chance of finding fantastic holidays at discount prices. There really is no excuse for paying more than you need to.

That’s why many people have come to realise that it makes sense to make holiday bookings online. This gives you the best opportunity to make savings and to have a holiday that you will truly enjoy.

Malta’s reputation as a family holiday island was boosted last year when an American journalist placed the small Mediterranean island as one of the five safest travel destinations in the world, and a new report from the US this year confirms Malta as one of the safest vacation spots in the world.

The good news and publicity comes for Malta in a year that has seen her fortunes as a holiday spot turn around from one that had been in decline, to one that is returning to a mainstream vacation destination.

The first three months of 2007 all showed year on year improvements in the number of tourists visiting Malta.

Much of the increase in visitor numbers has come about since the Malta government reluctantly agreed to allow low cost airlines to fly from the UK and Ireland, traditionally Malta’s strongest market for holidays.

Malta has enjoyed a revival in the number of British people visiting the Mediterranean holiday island since low cost flights were introduced last year.

Hotel and holiday bookings have been up for the first time in a number of years, and Malta’s traditional market has rediscovered the island as a holiday destination.

Malta has always been a likely spot for the British, with nearly all Maltese speaking fluent English – and like the British the Maltese drive on the left.

Malta used to be governed by the British, until 1964 when Malta became independent.

The decision to allow the low cost flights came after some time of delay by the Maltese authorities, and was too late to stop a further decline in 2006 of visitor numbers.

Ryanair started flights from London’s Luton airport in November, and from Dublin three months later. Other countries with low cost airlines have also started to fly to Malta, notably from Germany and Spain.

This year’s report bears more official weight than the previous one by a travel writer, as it was compiled by the US State Department.

Commenting on Malta, the report praises the island for the non existence of organised crime, especially surprising perhaps given her proximity to mainland Italy – and closer still to notorious Sicily.

A surprise for many who have driven in Malta is that the report considers the island’s roads to be safe. But this is backed up by official EU figures showing Malta has the lowest road related fatalities in the EU.

Last year’s report helped to promote Malta’s image as a safe destination to potential tourists considering different holiday destinations.

Malta ranked as one of the top five locations for safety in the world, according to American travel writer Laura McKenzie.

In her report Ms McKenzie said of the Mediterranean holiday island ‘In Malta there is no such thing as a dark and uninviting alley, while the police force is one of the oldest in the world’.

Something the Maltese people have known for some time!

Hotel and holiday bookings have been in decline on the Mediterranean island of Malta, but the hope is that 2007 will see new life breathed into her hotel and holidays industry.

The Malta hotels and holiday industry are major players in the island’s economy, and with unemployment already high, a further drop in the number of visitors next year could have a negative impact not just in tourism but for Malta as a whole.

Throughout the year the monthly statistics for the number of tourists visiting Malta have made depressing reading for the Malta hotels, and the next twelve months will be pivotal as to whether the island can stay in the mainstream of holiday destinations, or be relegated to niche travel status.

The island was rife with rumours earlier in the year that a UK tour operator was going to withdraw the island from their 2007 brochures, and a survey in the island’s biggest market showed that Malta would be more expensive for British tourists than the Canary and Balearic Islands for equivalent holidays next year.

But more recent news has brought hope to the
holidays in Malta market that 2007 will see an arrest in the decline of visitor numbers seen this year, with MyTravel surprising the holidays in Malta market by announcing an increase in the number of winter visitors it will be taking from the UK to Malta.

But the most positive news has come from low cost carrier RyanAir, who have started cheap flights to Malta from London and Dublin.

Between announcing the Dublin and London routes and the maiden flight to Malta, Ryanair sold 30,000 tickets. And the new competition has spurred Air Malta, the island’s national airline, to make offers of its own. A successful campaign saw two tickets a minute being sold recently.

‘This is all good news,’ say Malta hotels and holidays guide http://www.yourmalta.com, ‘Earlier in the year it looked like there was only one way that the visitor figures for Malta were going for the future, and that was in a continuing downward spiral.’

At one stage earlier in the year there were real doubts cast upon whether the Malta Government would approve the new low cost flights at all. Air Malta is a major employer and some in the tourist sector felt that too much of a protectionist attitude was being taken at the expense of a possible upswing in new visitors.

‘Unfortunately,’ continue YourMalta, ‘The Malta Tourist Authority and The Malta government seem to to make life as difficult as possible for the island’s hotel owners and those involved in the holiday industry. A privately run company like Ryanair will achieve more and bring more money on to the island than the Tourist Authority can ever dream of. And Ryanair will probably make a profit out of it while the Tourist Authority is using taxpayers money. We’re just waiting for the first set of figures where tourism has risen, and for the Malta Tourist Authority to claim part or all of the credit. In reality if tourist figures do rise it’s despite the Tourist Authority, and not because of it’.

                                         Holidays in Malta

Speaking on a visit to Malta recently, Ryanair’s Chief Executive Michael O’Leary declared himself pleased with their new Luton route, and predicted that their Dublin route, due to start operating in February, would be even more successful. He believes that Ryanair could take some 85,000 visitors to the island in 2007.

‘If Ryanair do deliver 85,000 visitors to Malta in 2007 it will stop the perpetual decline in overall tourist numbers,’ say YourMalta, ‘It depends of course on whether a large number will be new visitors or simply those who would have visited Malta anyway. We believe the likelihood is that a good deal of the 85,000 will be new visitors who hadn’t considered a Malta holiday before. With Air Malta fighting back and having successful promotions too there is every reason to feel confident that 2007 will prove to be a good year for Malta tourism. Hopefully it will prove to be a turning point and not a delay in the downward spiral of the last few years’.

The real estate industry in Malta also produces a good deal of inward investment for the Malta economy, and increased visitor numbers often correlate to an increase in Malta property prices.

According to Tribune Properties, a UK based company who specialise in Malta property for sale, property inflation could be in double digits next year.

‘Malta property buyers from overseas start as tourists, and with new tourists arriving next year in increased numbers we do expect this to have some impact on the market overall. The weather in Malta is always a plus point when potential buyers are considering where to buy a holiday home. But ease of access is a critical factor, and with the new flights at reduced prices it makes spending a few long weekends on Malta as well as the traditional week and fortnight holiday a realistic possibility for more people.’

Travel guide YourMalta do offer a cautionary note, urging the Malta authorities to invest in better roads and other infrastructure.

‘It’s important that holidaymakers want to return to the island in future years, and not just visit once – never to look at a holiday brochure and a map of Malta with good memories and return. The Malta hotels are on a par with the rest of Europe, but if they step outside to dangerous pavements, unclean beaches and a timeshare tout around every corner ready with a high pressure sales pitch they won’t return. Hopefully the Malta Tourist Authority will be doing as much as they can ensure a pleasant Malta holiday experience’.

More and more holiday makers are now choosing to stay in a holiday villa in Portugal during their vacations. Holiday villas are extremely popular in countries with a warmer climate and many of them have a swimming pool. There are many types of villa available to rent on your holiday and it is up to you to decide how much you want to spend and in what part of the world that you want to stay.

Once you have decided which country that you want to spend your holiday, you can then get down to the task of finding a villa. By looking on a direct holiday bookings web site will give you a great choice of holiday villas to choose from. It is then very easy to work your way through the selection of holiday villas that are available until you find the one that meets all of your requirements.

One of the best things about staying on your holidays in a holiday villa is the freedom that the villa offers you. You can use the holiday villa as a base to explore the local area or you can simply stay in and relax by the swimming pool. A holiday villa offers you great independence and you are not tied down to set meal times like in a hotel.

It is also handy for families staying in a holiday villa to be able to send the children up to their bedrooms to sleep. Often when staying in a hotel you have to go to bed at the same time as your children just to keep and eye on them. The great thing about a villa holiday is that when the children go to bed, you can stay downstairs watching the television or sitting by the side of the pool and have a drink.

Villa holidays also allow you to have the freedom to eat what you want and when you want. You are able to sample the local food and drink in restaurants or shop in the local shops and cook yourself back in your holiday villa. There is nothing better than barbecuing by the side of your villa swimming pool on a warm summers evening. You can cook local steak or try your hand at barbecuing some of the local fish that may be available in your area.

There are many holiday villas in all of the popular tourist destinations around the world. Many are available near to the theme parks and other holiday attractions. A holiday villa acts as an ideal base to explore the local area. One day you can leave your holiday villa and try out a theme park. The next day you can unwind and relax by the side of the pool in your holiday villa.

It is no wonder that staying in a holiday villa is one of the most popular types of holiday makers. Villa holidays are an ideal holiday for a family vacation and there are some superb villas out there to choose from. No matter what your budget or how many bedrooms you want, there is just about a holiday villa out there to suite all requirements.

An annual battle between holiday resorts to attract visiting tourists and their wallets each summer is over, and it appears that the Spanish island of Majorca has won over the British market at least.

Since the advent of package holidays some fifty years ago initiated by holiday companies such as Thomas Cook and Thomson Holidays, whole areas of Spain and other European countries have built their economies around tourism, and each year they hope that the holidaymakers will come to their area. Some islands like Menorca and Majorca are almost entirely dependent upon having a modern economy and infrastructure through incoming tourism.

In June this year predictions were for a dire 2007 for the holidays and flights market, with Spain and the Spanish islands including Menorca and Majorca being badly hit. The important UK market was slow, and British tour operators had reportedly close to a million holidays left unsold for the rapidly approaching peak summer months.

But after an unseasonly warm April in Britain when many people were considering taking a holiday in traditionally popular areas of the UK for holidays such as Scotland, Devon and Cornwall, the move towards an overseas holiday changed as quickly as the weather. Widespread floods led to mass holiday bookings and flights to Majorca, to the extent where some tour operators were able to return their holiday costs to full prices – and from a million unsold holidays people were suddenly having to take what was available.

Further worries were for the German market – along with the UK a vital market for holidays in Majorca, with the enviromental costs and carbon footprint dissuading some from taking flights to Majorca.

In recent years traditional holiday destinations such as Spain have faced new competition from Eastern European countries, with often lower cost holiday packages and flights, but despite initial signs of a real challenge, Spain seems to have seen them off for the moment at least, with overall visitor numbers for 2007 expected to rise compared to last year.

Among the tourists to the number one destination of Mallorca for holidays this year have been the Spanish Royal Family. The Royals traditionally spend their summer holidays on the island at the Marivent Palace, with this year being no exception. Previous guests some years ago during their holidays in Majorca have included Princess Diana with Princes William and Harry while they were still toddlers. The Spanish Prime Minister also traditionally visits Majorca for a meeting with King Juan Carlos.

The Royal Family holidaying on Majorca helps the island’s image with the mainland Spanish population, and gives it an upmarket image, with many families taking a villa holiday in Majorca.

            Thomson Holidays

Majorca has a rich holiday history compared to most tourist destinations, and in Europe only the French Riviera can compare, where the Victorian English frequented Nice, to the extent where the main boulevard was named the Promenade d’Anglais.

Nearly 200 million people have taken a holiday in Majorca over the last hundred years, with British and Germans the two nationalities heading the list of arrivals. The British have tended to head east to Magaluf and Palma Nova, the Germans to Arenal in the west of the island.

And while Majorca has a rich history of tourism, it is keeping up to date with modern expectations to make sure it stays at the top of British and German holiday plans. Arenal has just opened a new 40 million Euro aquarium, while Magaluf has opened a new theme park based around Indiana Jones type adventures, with both new attractions family orientated, and enough to keep holidaymakers happy in case the weather in Majorca isn’t quite what they had hoped for.

The first hotel to cater for tourists dates back as far as 1903 when the Grand opened her doors for business, the first of many hotels in Majorca to spring up between now and then. The tourists then were Europe’s wealthy, and they were delighted with Majorca and what the island had to offer, securing the island as a holiday destination well before the days of low cost flights and package holidays had become a reality some sixty years later.

Perhaps not seeing that Majorca would become one of Europe’s top holiday destinations for allcomers, the island first tried successfully to pitch herself as a niche market for honeymoons in the 1950′s, with the second world war and Spanish Civil War having brought earlier attempts at incoming tourism into a state of suspension, and the first true package holiday tourists arrived in 1952.

But it was the advent of the jet that really boosted Majorca, and made flying to Palma a real possibility for millions of Europeans. With flights to Majorca coming down in price significantly in recent years and a host of airlines operating from airports across Europe, Majorca has never been so accessible, and the traditional fortnight has been surpassed by frequent 3 and 4 day trips two or three times a year for many people, and with many Europeans who are environmentally conscious moving away from long distance holidays in destinations such as Florida, the map of Majorca might well appear in more households when planning a holiday.

The increase in the number of tourists to Majorca has been measured, and it makes fascinating reading. In 1950, Majorca and her sister islands of Menorca and Ibiza received under 100,000 tourists. By 1973 this had grown to over 7 million for Majorca alone, and last year it had risen to over 9.5 million.

The possibility of reaching ten million visitors in a single year is a very real possibility for the island.

Recent economic struggles in the U.K. and the U.S. have taken no toll on the number of holiday bookings to the Canary Islands. In fact, foreign tourism to Lanzarote was up a surprising 49 percent during the first two months of 2008.

Lanzarote is the most visited of the seven islands that make up the Canaries.

During the first two months of 2008, the number of British tourists on Lanzarote rose by nearly 17 percent. This rise in tourism came after predictions that weakening economies around the globe could put a virtual halt to tourism.

Some tourists are speaking negatively about the rise in the costs of meals and other necessities purchased while in the Canaries.

What most fail to realize is that their sterling and dollar just don’t stretch quite as far as they previously did. While it is true there is some inflation, the British pound (sterling) and US dollar are simply not worth what they used to be. Current exchange rates play a major part in expenses incurred once tourists reach the islands.

Tourism to Lanzarote from the U.K. doesn’t show any sign of decline. However, tourism from Lanzarote’s second largest tourist source, Germany, has decreased over the last six months.

The island definitely has maintained its allure with Irish tourists. Lanzarote reported a 3.9 percent increase in Irish tourists during the first two months of 2008. Interest also is increasing in Lanzarote’s traditionally strong markets of Norway and Sweden. The number of Norwegian tourists to Lanzarote jumped 31.1 percent, while the number of Swedish tourists increased by nearly 62 percent.

Although some tourist markets have decreased, the overall increase of nearly 11 percent is welcome news for Lanzarote tourism. All of the island’s main tourist and cultural sites have reported increases in business. Resort and hotel owners have reported occupancy levels of more than 84 percent during the first two months of 2008.

Lanzarote is obviously a favourite holiday destination for Brits, the Irish and people from several other European countries.

Current monetary exchange rates and economic problems have been an underlying concern for resort owners – however, it appears that many holiday makers understand economic difficulties and plan their budgets accordingly. Many people rely on their island holiday as their one getaway from the stresses and struggles of everyday life.

Lanzarote offers many attractions that keep people coming back for more. Timanfaya Volcano Park, for instance, saw nearly 60,000 visitors during January and February 2008. Tourists can enjoy photo opportunities of amazing vistas, as well as camel rides up the side of a volcano.

The park also helps raise awareness about volcanoes and the formation of the Canary Islands. The park offers tours in English, Spanish and German.

Jameos del Agua was formed by the eruption of a volcano and is another one of Lanzarote’s main attractions. Jameos del Agua hosted more than 46,000 visitors during the first two months of 2008.

Statistics from the first part of this year are a very good indicator for the rest of the year. Lanzarote’s prime tourist season doesn’t begin until May, yet the most recent figures show a significant increase in hotel bookings for the coming season.

It would seem that failing economies and higher exchange rates can’t keep island lovers mainland-bound for long. Lower airfares to and from the islands also are helping the work-weary tourist make more intelligent travel plans.

Golf holidays have grown greatly in popularity in recent years. It is now possible to go on a golf holiday to most countries in the world due to the growth of the budget airlines and the internet. Many golfers now book a golfing holiday on the internet with direct holiday bookings. One of the most popular golf holiday destinations is France.

Some golfers choose to go and play golf in France as a short break holiday as it is a relatively cheap golfing holiday. Golfers can fly to France on their short break, go on the train or catch a ferry over and drive. When they are on holiday in France there is a tremendous choice of golf courses for them to choose from. Many of these golf courses offer special rates for people coming to France on a golfing holiday.

Spain has many golf courses and is another destination popular with golfers. The attraction of Spain is that people can play golf all the year round when there on holiday. Many families now go on Spanish golf holidays as many of the golf courses in Spain let golfers of all abilities play on them. The Costa Del Sol is a favourite destination for a golf holiday break with many tourists going there for a long weekend of golf. In recent years golf courses in Spain have started to offer mid week golf holiday breaks.

Turkey has responded to this increase in demand for golf holidays by tailor making golf packages.

Cyprus has not normally been regarded as a golf holiday destination. With the growth of the internet the tourist board in Cyprus realized that it had an ideal climate for golf and that there was potential to attract more tourists to the Cyprus if they started to promote golf holiday breaks. The growth of holiday rentals has also spread to Cyprus with many holiday makers now booking Cyprus holiday rentals on the internet. Holiday rentals are so popular in Cyprus due to the great climate and the growth of the low cost airlines. Many families now go on holiday to Cyprus and stay in holiday rental homes and use these holiday homes as a base to explore the local culture and night life.

Holiday rental homes give families a sense of independence when they are on their vacations. Many families stay in holiday rental homes in Spain by the sea. Holiday homes are very popular in Spain and many have swimming pools. Families can then choose to stay in their rental home and swim in the swimming pool and catch some sun or maybe leave their holiday home for the day and go down to the beach. The great thing about a Spanish holiday rental is that it allows you to sample the local Spanish culture.

The same can be said for a holiday rental in Italy. You can choose a traditional rental home in Italy and stay in the heart of a small village or town. By choosing a holiday rental in Italy you can truly live the life of a local Italian.

Some Italian families have holiday rentals next to their own houses and make holiday makers feel most welcome during their holiday. On other occasions you can choose to have a relaxing night in your holiday home and may take back some local food and wine to cook yourself.
